ISPA celebrates innovation in the spa industry each year with the Innovate Awards Series. The new series now includes awards recognizing new product launches, philanthropic partnerships and spa offerings. The 2024 application process has closed. The 2025 application process will open in the fall of 2025.

The New Product Awards, honoring outstanding new product launches of the prior 12 months, were offered for the first time in 2023. Exciting products from ISPA Vendor Members were recognized in 18 different categories based on product type. Click here to view ISPA New Product Award recipients.

The Innovate Awards, highlighting the remarkable amount of creativity and adaptability displayed by ISPA member organizations, will recognize new initiatives and philanthropic efforts in spa operations. Click here to view past ISPA Innovate Award recipients.

By rolling the New Product Awards into the Innovate Awards Series, the application and voting processes will be streamlined. Each member company will receive one complimentary entry, with additional entries available for a nominal fee. Only members are eligible to apply and only members may vote, ensuring industry peers select the top prize in each category. Winners will be recognized in early 2025 in Pulse, at the ISPA Conference and through industry media promotion.

ISPA Conference Awards

Each year, three awards are given to individuals at the ISPA Conference Power Sessions. These awards include: ISPA Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award, ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award and the ISPA Visionary Award.

ISPA Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award

The ISPA Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award is named in honor of the late spa pioneer, Alex Szekely. This award recognizes an individual who has contributed significantly toward humanitarian efforts, promoting behavioral changes that contribute to longevity or quality of life.

ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award

The ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award is given to an active ISPA member who has contributed significantly to the growth of the association and demonstrated commitment to ISPA through the promotion of its mission and vision. The recipient might have served on the ISPA Board, served on a committee or given extra service in a way of taking on a significant task that promotes ISPA and its values.

ISPA Visionary Award

The ISPA Visionary Award is presented to a true visionary who has inspired and made significant contributions to advancing the spa industry and its members.

ISPA Conference Expo Awards

This annual award celebrates exhibitors’ hard work and creative energy in a fun way during the ISPA Conference. Anonymous volunteer judges from the ISPA community vote for the winners in four different categories. The Split Island/Island, Inline/Linear Booths and Sponsor Experience are judged on overall presentation, design and aesthetics, product placement, brand placement and marketing elements and ease of navigating their space. The Superstar Team is judged on excellent customer service, warm welcome into their space and knowledgeable staff.

ISPA Distinguished Service Award

From time to time, a special award is presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the association and spa industry as a whole.  This award, known as the ISPA Distinguished Service Award has been awarded several times:

2022 – Colin McIlheney
This award was given in recognition of many years of dedicated service to ISPA through the partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

1998 – Mel and Enid Zuckerman
This award was given in recognition of Canyon Ranch’s innovative approach to wellness and its influence on the “wellness movement” in the United States.

1994 – Bernie Burt
This award was given in recognition of Bernie Burt’s long-time service to ISPA and the spa industry.
