ISPA’S PULSE MAGAZINE MARKS A SERIES OF “FIRSTS”

December 5, 2007

LEXINGTON, Ky. – A publication for spa consumers, earning a national award, setting a record and going digital are four recent accomplishments for “the magazine for the spa professional.” The International SPA Association’s publication Pulse wraps up 2007 with notable achievements while moving ahead to 10 issues in 2008.

The recent milestones include:

  • The announcement of the launch of LiveSpa, the sister publication of Pulse. Available in June 2008, this inaugural publication will focus on educating the spa consumer. In order to reach the spa-going consumer, LiveSpa will be circulated to all ISPA members, with additional copies available for purchase.
  • Pulse was awarded a second place Ozzie award for the December 2006 cover in the “Cover, Non-Profit/Association category” of the Folio: Awards. Annually, Folio: gives out gold, silver and bronze Eddie and Ozzie awards for editorial and design excellence in more than 100 categories. Folio: is the only magazine that serves the entire community of the magazine publishing industry.
  • A record-setting issue of 188 pages. The August 2007 pre-Conference edition surpassed the previous largest issue, August 2006, by 16 pages.
  • Pulse is now available online. “We added a digital format so members can enjoy the new technological features of Digital Pulse while still receiving their trusted printed copy in the mail,” said Pulse Executive Editor Julie Wilson. “Digital Pulse makes it simple for members to search for keywords anywhere in the issue, access companies’ Web sites with a single click on enhanced ads, and watch sponsored video clips from the convenience of their computer.”

ISPA President Lynne McNees added, “We are so proud of the hard work that our Pulse team puts into creating the leading spa industry magazine. The spa industry’s decision-makers trust Pulse for the information they need to grow personally and professionally in their businesses. As the spa community continues to broaden its appeal, we plan to continue expanding Pulse to support the work of today’s spa professionals.”
