ISPA Members Named to Prestigious Travel Lists

March 28, 2013

While award season is in full swing in Hollywood, many awards have been announced recently for the spa world. Eight out of the top ten spas named to Condé Nast Traveler’s 2013 Readers’ Poll: The Top 270 Spas in North America, the Caribbean, Hawaii and at Sea are members of the International SPA Association (ISPA). The Forbes Travel Guide 2013 Star Award recently also named their five star spa properties, with nearly half of those listed being ISPA members.

“It is an honor that so many properties named on both of these lists are ISPA members,” said Lynne McNees, president of ISPA. “The large number of members represented show the caliber that ISPA members set for the entire spa community.”

For more than 25 years, Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards have been a coveted seal of approval for hotels, cruise ships, and airlines from the world’s most discriminating travelers. Readers who participated in the poll had a total of 46,352 visits to hotel, resort, and cruise ship spas. The results were, however, a collective effort, and a place on these lists is a distinction earned only after many visits by many Condé Nast Traveler readers.

Number three on the Condé Nast Traveler list, Sundara Inn & Spa have been ISPA members since the day they opened their doors. “To say we’re thrilled is even an understatement,” said Rick Duarte, general manager of Sundara Inn & Spa. “This is incredibly meaningful given the award comes from the magazine’s spa-savvy readers who vote on spas they’ve visited, and to have it come during our 10th anniversary year is icing on the cake.”

Since 1958, when Forbes Travel Guide was founded as Mobil Travel Guide, the team of professional incognito inspectors and editors has traveled the globe in search of the world’s best hotels, restaurants and spas. They visit each hotel, restaurant and spa that they rate and recommend, anonymously testing every aspect of a property’s experience to determine a rating you can rely on when planning travel.
