ISPA’s Dedicated Contributor Award Recognizes Industry Leader John Gray

[Lexington, Ky.] July 26, 2012- The International SPA Association is pleased to announce that John Gray, co-founder and principal of Voelker Gray Design, will be honored as the recipient of the 2012 International SPA Association Dedicated Contributor Award during the 22nd annual ISPA Conference & Expo, Oct. 15-17 at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. Gray served as president and CEO of Glen Ivy Hot Springs near Corona, Calif. for more than 30 years.

The ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award is given to an active ISPA member who has contributed significantly to the growth of the association. The recipient will have demonstrated leadership and commitment to ISPA and has extensively assisted in the promotion of the association, as well as its mission and vision.

“John has been committed to the association for many years and served the membership through his service on the board. It is an honor to be able to recognize him on his many years of dedication,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees.

Gray’s vision and dedication grew Glen Ivy Hot Springs to four locations and $24 million annual sales. In 2007, Gray shifted his focus of attention from the direct leadership of Glen Ivy’s operations to business development, marketing, and consulting. He began a partnership with Todd Voelker, the architect of Glen Ivy’s physical development for the fast-growing years, to form Voelker Gray Design, providing consulting to the hospitality industry in spa development, medical spa design, architecture, resort master planning, and interior design.

Gray stated about the award, “I know every past recipient and am proud to be acknowledged with them. I think especially of such trailblazers as Bernie Burt and Jane Segerberg, Gayle Brady, the Corbetts and Korpis. Those of us who have served the spa industry for three and four decades or more, and who have supported ISPA since its early days, share a bond of accomplishment and a legacy of leadership. A few are named as such, but there are many dedicated contributors.”

The 2012 ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award will be presented to Gray during the general session on Wednesday, October 17 at the ISPA Conference & Expo. Other award winners include Susie Ellis, president of SpaFinder, Inc., who will be honored as the recipient of the ISPA 2012 Visionary Award.
