ISPA Foundation Raises Funds To Support Education And Outreach Initiatives And Gives Back In Austin

October 15, 2009

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The International SPA Association Foundation is celebrating a successful end to its annual Silent and Live Auctions held at the ISPA Conference & Expo in Austin, Tx. At this year’s Live Auction sponsored by Rain Organics Vodka and SPA magazine, held Tues., Oct. 6 at the Austin Convention Center more than $95,000 was raised to help support the Foundation’s initiatives. The ISPA Foundation works to advance the industry through scholarships, the development of educational spa resources and research. The Auctions featured 218 items donated by spas, hotels, product companies and businesses within the spa industry.

While in Austin, the ISPA Foundation helped give back to the host city by donating 131 pairs of Reebok shoes as well as assorted Reebok sports apparel to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area. The Reebok products were part of a special raffle that attendees participated in. When a raffle ticket was purchased the ISPA Foundation provided a pair of shoes for a child in need as a result of a generous donation from Reebok.

Brian Beaulieu, director of operations, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area said, “We were thrilled to learn the ISPA Foundation would be donating more than a hundred pairs of Reebok shoes and clothing to our kids at the Boys & Girls Club. We just started a new health and life skills program called “Run for Your Life!” and over the next three months we hope to motivate hundreds of our Club kids to walk, jog or run 15 miles. Many of our kids need a decent pair of shoes just to get started. Lots of kids will be happy – lots of moms too!”

“Through the raffle, Conference attendees were donating to two good causes – the Boys & Girls Club and the Foundation,” said newly elected ISPA Foundation President Jeff Kohl. “The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Capitol Area is a wonderful organization and we were thrilled to be able to contribute to their cause while visiting their city.”
