RELAX AFTER YOUR SUMMER VACATION WITH A SPA EXPERIENCE

June 30, 2006

LEXINGTON, Ky. – As the season changes, ease your body into cooler weather by experiencing the warm colors, rich fragrances and seasonal ingredients and treatments that spas are offering this fall. After three months of vacationing and spending time in the sun, International SPA Association members are stressing the importance of post-summer skin care.

“ISPA members, including spas and product suppliers, are offering products and services that are dedicated to calming, hydrating and repairing the skin from sun and water damage,” says ISPA President Lynne Walker McNees. “Ingredients including pumpkin, ginger and fig are being used this autumn to offer spa-goers a customized experience.”

Pumpkin, which is known for its anti-aging, detoxifying, energizing and nourishing benefits for the skin, is one of the most popular ingredients this fall. Pumpkin is most commonly used in facial treatments and is often combined with other fruits such as orange and melon. ISPA members are also finding other uses for this nutritional powerhouse in their body wraps, scented pedicures and salon products.

Listed below are some ISPA members that are taking advantage of the nutritional benefits of pumpkin:

  • Etheria Salon and Spa in Houston is featuring a pumpkin facial with a cleanser, toner and mask.
  • In Sonoma, Calif., MacArthur Place, The Garden Spa is offering a pumpkin body wrap, which is a gentle, exfoliating treatment that leaves the skin aglow.
  • The Golden Door Spa at the Boulders, in Carefree, Ariz., includes pumpkin in their Golden Harvest Facial.
  • Lake Austin Spa Resort in Texas suggests a pumpkin pedicure that includes massage, skin exfoliation, cuticle removal and nail conditioning.

This fall, spa-goers can also expect to find new fragrances, experience outdoor activities and take advantage of seasonal savings.

  • In Maryland, Robert Andrew – The Salon and Spa is featuring a “Fall Festival” in September, offering complimentary massages and makeup applications. They are also advertising homecoming and back-to-school incentives.
  • Zents Body Care is relaunching the scent “fig” that captures sensual delights such as rich leather, autumn leaves and fresh roasted coffee.
  • New York’s Mohonk Mountain House is featuring outdoor activities such as seasonal hiking trails and nature walks. The resort’s 85 miles of trails allow one to be as active or relaxed as they want to be.
