Time to Manage Up.
Bosses are busy and are generally concerned about ROI, so let’s go in with some strategy.
Tie your journey in with your boss’s.
If you don’t know your boss’s goals, start by learning them and figuring out how to help reach them. Chances are, your trip to Conference will align with their interests. Whether it’s professional education, scouting out new products and services or bringing back life lessons from keynote speakers, you can come to Conference on a mission.
Have an after plan.
Going to Conference and gathering knowledge and inspiration is one thing. Putting what you’ve learned into action is a whole other level. Figure out how to put what you’ve learned into action or at least figure out how you can bring back information for the entire team to help reach your boss’s goals, too. We definitely recommend you have a nice team brief ready when you get back.
Promise to bring back samples.
There’s usually a few goodie bags that people return with. Maybe promise to share some samples? Oh, and bring back business cards and lots of photos, too.
Still need help getting started?
