ISPA To Recognize Angela Cortright as 2011 Dedicated Contributor
LEXINGTON, Ky. – A spa industry leader will be honored during the 2011 International SPA Association’s Conference & Expo, Nov. 7-9, at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nev. Angela Cortright, founder of Spa Gregorie’s in Newport Beach, Rancho Santa Margarita and Del Mar, Calif. will be presented with the ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award during the 21st annual gathering of the spa industry event of the year.
“Angela’s passion for the spa industry and her work is contagious,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees. “We are thrilled to honor someone who has given so much of herself to help others thrive, and provide care for those in times of need. She truly embodies what the spa industry is all about – helping others live a more healthy, well-balanced lifestyle.”
The ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award is given to an active ISPA member who has contributed significantly to the growth of the association. The recipient will have demonstrated leadership and commitment to ISPA and has extensively assisted in the promotion of the association, as well as its mission and vision.
Upon learning of the recognition, Cortright said, “One of my favorite quotes goes: ‘Service to others is the rent we pay for our room on Earth.’ I am blown away by being honored by ISPA for my contributions to the association, the spa industry and our communities. It is part of our fabric, it is found in our mission statement and it has contributed to our success. I thank ISPA for this honor and I encourage everyone to find ways to contribute to their communities and industries for the betterment of all.”
Cortright didn’t start out in the spa industry; instead she began her career in the personal computer industry, helping to define distribution channels, marketing programs and product alliances. She founded Graphix Zone, a company recognized as a leader in CD ROM publishing. In 1998, she decided to apply her skills to a new industry when she opened the first Spa Gregorie’s location. Over a decade later Spa Gregorie’s has expanded to three locations and is recognized as a leader in community outreach, greening initiatives and fundraising. The spa is dedicated to helping the fight against cancer, raising widespread awareness and funds for both Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Greet the Day – a non-profit organization where professionals volunteer massage and bodywork services to people with cancer. Cortright served on the ISPA Board of Directors and chaired the ISPA Marketing Committee working to bring a new Web site, Code of Conduct, history video and textbooks to the association.
The 2011 ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award will be presented during one of the Conference’s General Sessions. Other 2011 award recipients include Bert Jacobs, co-founder and Chief Executive Optimist of The Life is good Company who will accept the ISPA Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award.
