ISPA Recognized Award Recipients at 2012 ISPA Conference & Expo

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The International SPA Association (ISPA) recognized three individuals with awards at the 2012 ISPA Conference & Expo, held October 15-17 at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla., USA. John Gray, Susie Ellis and Lisa Ling were each recognized as excellent leaders making a difference in the spa industry.

“The International SPA Association recognizes leadership in the industry and the value in highlighting these individuals and the work they have done,” said ISPA President Lynne McNees. “All three have significant achievements that are shining examples for us all to look to.”

Susie Ellis, president of SpaFinder, Inc., was honored at the general session on Monday, October 15 as the recipient of the 2012 International SPA Association Visionary Award. This award is given to an individual in the spa industry who has made significant contributions to the definition and positive movement of health and wellness. Ellis not only leads the world’s largest spa media and marketing company, she has also contributed in the development of the Global Spa & Wellness Summit.

Lisa Ling, co-executive producer and host of Our America, and contributor to ABC News’ Nightline, was honored at the general session on Tuesday, October 16 as the recipient of the 2012 International SPA Association Alex Szekely Humanitarian Award. The Humanitarian Award is given to an individual who is not necessarily a member of ISPA, but is recognized as a respected contributor to overall well-being, encouraging the renewal of mind, body and spirit – all of which is done by ISPA members around the world. Due to unforeseen personal reasons, Ling was unable to be present at the time of the event, but gave a video acceptance speech.

John Gray, cofounder and principal of Voelker Gray Design, was honored at the general session on Wednesday, October 17 as the recipient of the 2012 International SPA Association Dedicated Contributor Award. Gray has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to ISPA, assisting in the promotion of the association, its mission and its vision. The ISPA Dedicated Contributor Award is given to an active ISPA member who has contributed significantly to the growth of the association. The recipient will have demonstrated leadership and commitment to ISPA and has extensively assisted in the promotion of the association, as well as its mission and vision.
