ISPA AND THE ISPA FOUNDATION RELEASE NEW TOOLS ON RETAIL OPERATIONS

November 30, 2005

LEXINGTON, Ky. – There’s hardly any topic in the spa industry that is more heavily discussed than retail. With that in mind, the International SPA Association and the ISPA Foundation have partnered to create a retail management course.

“ISPA members have said repeatedly that they want additional resources on spa retail,” said ISPA Chairman Kate Mearns. “Now, spa professionals have a significant textbook and course that will help improve their retail operations, while also enhancing their professional growth.”

ISPA Foundation President John Korpi added, “This important resource for spa professionals is presented with a focus on both the art and science of retail management. This dual approach to retail management teaches the reader how to increase retail revenues and ultimately spa profitability, while remaining consistent with the spa’s purpose.”

The course fully explores retail planning, inventory management, maximizing profits, sales and service, visual merchandising and marketing. More than 24 retail product experts contributed to the completion of this educational tool including spa and retail managers, marketing and financial consultants, as well as product suppliers.

This course includes a textbook, chapter quizzes and a certificate of completion for those who pass the final exam. The retail management textbook is available to ISPA members for $150. Non members may purchase the textbook for $300. For additional information, please visit http://www.experienceispa.com/cms/cms/articles/.
