CSC is conducting a search for an experienced Spa Director for this Resort Casino property in Reno, Nevada. The Spa is 21,000 s.f. and features three couples’ treatment rooms, four individual treatment rooms, five facial treatment rooms, three relaxation lounges, a salt inhalation chamber, seven hydrotherapy soaking tubs, two steam rooms, and two saunas. Also available are two private hospitality suites, which can be booked for special events. The spa, complete with a salon, a boutique, and a fitness center, benefits from a prime location within the resort.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Includes, but is not limited to the following) 1. Development and implementation of annual budget and business plan for the Spa, in conjunction with the VP of Hotel Operations and resort goals. 2. Achievement and regular review of the business plan and budget once approved. Preparation of monthly financial and statistical reports for the VP of Hotel Operations, incorporating proposals and recommendations regarding policy and operation at the Spa, competition, occupancy and usage, market share and achievement of targets. 3. Establishing and ensuring a cost-effective wage structure based on productivity and efficiency. Liaison with the Hotel Sales and Marketing leaders in the preparation and development of marketing plans for the year. 4. Coordinate all promotional plans and projects for the facility. 5. Provide leadership, direction and support to the employees at the Spa to develop a highly motivated team, who can deliver ambitious service and sales standards in all areas. 6. Effectively integrate the Spa within the Hotel Marketing Strategy and ensure ongoing representation of the Spa, both internally and externally. 7. Develop an annual training plan for the Spa, in conjunction with the HR Department and ensure that all employees are trained and developed to meet the needs of the business. 8. Monitor standards of performance and member satisfaction and introduce measures to ensure the highest standards of quality and service. Lead the planning and implementation of marketing activities within the Spa, with support from the Hotel. 9. Responsible for the health and safety of guests, employees and members in the Spa and adhere to guidelines and procedures outlined in the Health and Safety Manual. 10. Ensure that good practices are applied to all issues in relation to employees and in conjunction with the HR Department, to assure that all Hotel HR policies and procedures are followed. 11. Provide an effective structure for communication within the Spa at all levels.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities). Qualified candidates will possess in-depth spa financial acumen, experience managing day-to-day luxury spa resort operations, HR, Health and Safety compliance standards, experience managing talent, as well as effective sales and marketing skills. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: High school education or equivalent required. College degree preferred but not required. Experience: Minimum of 6-8 years in spa operations with at least 3-4 years as Spa Director or Assistant Director at a luxury spa. Spa experience within a luxury hotel environment is a plus. Certificate/License: None required. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Be mobile in all Spa areas. Work is performed in areas, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, dimly lit or brightly illuminated or on slippery surfaces. May come into contact with solvents/oils, fumes/odors and dirt/dust. Use of electrical devices and computer equipment. Constant contact with staff. Frequent contact with guests/visitors. TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: (May be required in order to perform the essential functions of the position). Constant standing, sitting, bending and walking throughout shift. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs. Occasional kneeling, pushing and/or pulling. Occasional ascending and/or descending stairs, ramps or ladders.
