Multi-dimensional destination wellness resort in So Cal is seeking a Director of Sales/ Business Development.
Reporting to Director of Marketing and Executive Director the Director of Sales / Business Development will promote and sell wellness services to corporate and group market through client research, direct phone solicitation and sales, outside sales calls, tradeshows, and networking opportunities. Working closely with hotel’s sales and marketing team for possible leads, the Director of Sales will solicit, sell and confirm corporate and group business required to meet budgeted sales goals. Candidate should possess the ability to solicit group travel. This position requires a high degree of independent judgement and discretion on decision making. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Direct Sales and Business Development: ▪ Develop accounts (new and existing) by mapping specific business industry and companies and buying tendencies. Include group profile for each meeting; maintain organized and professional plan for correspondence and follow up. ▪ Develop a new business develop plan designed for new business acquisition in the Los Angeles basin and beyond. ▪ Proactively solicit new and existing accounts/customers in defined geographic region. ▪ Research and probe business objectives whereby wellness services can be presented along with conference and meeting solutions surrounding property assets and services. ▪ Create specific personalized solutions for each prospective business lead to create differentiation in business solutions that stand out and create a position of strength over competitors ▪ Negotiate terms and conditions of individual business with strategic approach and fiscal awareness to maximize customer needs and balance profitability. ▪ Draft, generate and confirm/sign group and corporate contracts that ensure budget and revenue targets are achieved. o Review reservation method and deadlines noted in the contract about reservations. o Review schedule of events o Confirm special concessions and deposit schedule o Advise of transportation options, sell internal transportation partnership o Set a date for next conference call for introduction to Event Manager, review highlights from call, list tasks to be accomplished before next call ▪ Utilizing empowered authority and judgment alongside divisional and hotel policy, this person will adjust pricing where appropriate, and recommend group concessions as needed to secure group business ▪ Utilize Various Prospecting Resources to solicit and secure business ▪ Educate sales and conference services personnel to extend the sales resources and reach of wellness offerings company-wide, sales developments, prospecting projects, WSO customer events and as a function of group sales business development
5+ years of Previous sales experience within the hospitality, spa or wellness market.
