ISPA Nominations Committee Selects Industry Leaders to Give Back to the Spa Community

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The International SPA Association Nominations Committee is charged with the task of developing an outstanding slate of candidates to serve on the ISPA Board of Directors. Each year, members of ISPA have the opportunity to apply to serve on the Board of Directors to govern the mission and vision of the association. Applications for Board service will be available on experienceispa.com beginning February 13, 2012. Members will have 30 days to complete the application before the interview process, led by the Nominations Committee, begins. The committee, made up of current and past ISPA Board members, evaluates the needs of the ISPA Board of Directors to determine who is best suited for board service.

The 2012 Nominations Committee will be co-chaired by Sharilyn Abbajay, vice president, global spa and retail operations, Marriott International and Frank Pitsikalis, founder and CEO, ResortSuite.

Abbajay noted, "Board service is important because it allows you to collaborate with a diverse group of industry leaders that share the same interest, commitment and values. You're able to serve the greater global spa community and make a difference."

Pitsikalis added, "I feel it is so vitally important to get actively involved and contribute to our industry. Serving on the ISPA Board and working side by side with the leaders in our industry is extremely rewarding. It provides an opportunity to amplify the voice of our members and serve our industry with the best research, education and networking opportunities for shared success."

Other members of the committee include: Cathy Cluff, president and CEO, Oaks at Ojai; Jean Kolb, director of wellness business, Kohler Co.; Jim Root, president and CEO, Glen Ivy Hot Springs; Jane Segerberg, president, Segerberg Spa Consulting, LLC and Deborah Waldvogel, director of spa development and operations, Sedona Resorts. One third of the ISPA Board rotates off the board every year. There is no set number of board members that have to be added annually, but the ISPA Board consists of at least 12 and no more than 22 members.

Once the 2012 candidates are selected by the Nominations Committee the ISPA membership will vote on the entire slate of candidates in July. Board members are selected to serve a one-three year term and begin their service after the annual ISPA Conference & Expo.
