We are over a month removed from this year’s ISPA Conference & Expo, which has us feeling nostalgic here at ISPA Headquarters. So nostalgic, in fact, we decided to bring you a 2016 ISPA Conference recap! There were so many great moments at this year’s Conference, it would be impossible to include them all in one blog post, but we’re going to try.
This month, the International Spa Association welcomes 20 new members to our community. Our new ISPA Members for October 2016 consist of 14 spas (Spas, Corporate Spa Headquarters, Corporate Spa Links, or Spas Under Development), three vendors, two students, and two service providers. ResortSuite returns to the 2016 ISPA East Coast Media event as its official online spa appointment booking software provider! Since 2013, ResortSuite has provided spa booking software for both the West Coast and East Coast Media Events, allowing journalists to pre-book mini treatments at participating spa booths. Journalists receive email confirmations of their booked appointments and also receive a printed itinerary for convenience in their personalized event booklet.
The June West Coast ISPA Media Event in Beverly Hills was the first one in which Meadowood Napa Valley has ever participated – and we were so excited! Since we opened our brand new Meadowood Spa in November of 2015, we targeted this West Coast event as one we knew would be a great way for us to generate awareness in the health and wellness community in a very key market, not to mention the opportunity to meet influential members of the media whose beat(s) focus on spa, health and wellness.
ISPA puts on a very professional Media Event and that is the reason why The Oaks continues to participate. We have found that the press coming are engaged and produce. We had over 14 mentions and two larger articles in the first two weeks following the event.
Which means we’re just a few short days away from celebrating Global Wellness Day! Hopefully everyone has already made great plans to participate in this international day of wellness, but if not, have no fear—there’s still time to get involved!
A few things happened at the ISPA Conference in October 2015 that got me thinking about a corporation’s responsibility to give back. The first thing was Scott Harrison’s (CEO, charity: water) moving presentation at the General Session. A shockingly up close look at what men, women and children are dealing with on an everyday basis across the globe. It is hard to watch a presentation like that and not be compelled to do something; I would say most people in that room felt moved to action as his speech came to a close. But, I really wanted to be a part of a group that actually did something about it.
