Job Description

This position is responsible for the supervision and management of the spa, retail area, fitness and its day-to-day operations; and is accountable for all aspects of guest services. The Spa Director is a manager and team leader responsible for hiring, training, and supervising of all location specific employees and contractors. He or she is responsible for the therapists’ schedules, payroll, product and service development, retail performance and the physical condition of the spa and fitness areas. Additionally, this position will monitor the guest arrival and departure experience, guest appointment scheduling and acts as the direct liaison to spa and fitness guests and members. The Spa director’s duty is to ensure that guests and member experience meets the standards of excellence set forth in the Maack Management mission statement. Responsibilities: -Working with the Vice President, establishes and implements spa operating policies, Standards of Performance (SOP), concepts and procedures for the Spa at a 4 Star / 5 Diamond level. -Prepares the budget and forecast for each area of responsibility on a period and annual basis and as required; monitors for effectiveness. -The position assists in the creation and implementation of marketing plans and working with management staff in achieving operational goals and is responsible for meeting or exceeding goals of the spa. -Prepares and analyzes financial data, payroll, departmental utilization reports, revenue statistics, and makes logical recommendations based on the applicable and available data to the Vice President. -Develop and record Monthly Management Report Establish, monitor, and update the Daily Activity Summary spreadsheets. -Inventory Control -Responsible for assisting the Managing Partner and Vice President with Financial Reconciliation: -Participates in Spa promotions and public relations. -The Spa Director is responsible for the guest satisfaction scores in the Spa. -Hires, trains, evaluates, and develops personnel to promote the level of quality required to achieve the Spa’s goals. -Makes recommendations on retail lines, controls and promotes sales. -Responsible for assuring all general facility operations are properly implemented: -Ensure and maintain a positive team atmosphere that delivers luxury spa and four diamond customer satisfaction. -Updating and improving the Policy and Procedures Manual with the Human Resources Director -Employee training, development, and supervision for all Spa InterContinental procedures -Planning, coordinating, and updating the staff schedule to ensure that all goals are met for successful facility operations.

Job Requirements

The Spa Director needs to have general spa and/or salon management experience, preferably in a Hotel/Resort setting. This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree. The Spa Director must display the ability to work with a variety of people from different cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, remain calm and professional during stressful situations, must be able to analyze and resolve guest- and/or staff-related problems. He or she must be able to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) with guests, co-workers and management. The candidate must be able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial statements, marketing analyses, budgets, and legal documents. He or she must be able to write reports, business correspondences, and procedure manuals; and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
