Job Description

The Senior Assistant General Manager co-manages day-to-day spa & salon operations to successfully achieve sales goals, business objectives and overall spa/salon profitability. Performs functions associated with performance management, payroll, benefits, scheduling, recruitment, and administrative functions including cash reconciliation, banking and inventory. Ensures the staff provides the highest level of guest service in strict accordance to service standards. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to General Manager/Regional Manager NE Resorts JOB SUPERVISES (Title(s): Guest Service Manager, Retail Staff, Beauty Advisors* *Note: Direct reports may vary depending on the needs of the location ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Spa Operations  Manages the day-to-day activities to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently, consulting with GM on issues large in scope/impact  Monitors and controls payroll and operating expenses to successfully achieve profit plan  Conducts sales audits and monitors sales data, reviews financial data, prepares management reports and performs administration functions accurately and timely  Oversees salon standards, conduct daily walk-through and initiate maintenance/repairs as needed; enforces safety and maintenance procedures and ensures all equipment is in good working order  Performs opening and closing duties as needed, following established procedures, prepares bank deposits  Assists in coordinating promotional events and technical and product training sessions  Completes management reports accurately and timely Human Resources Management  Effectively communicates job responsibilities, expectations, guest service standards, and company policies/guidelines; provides counsel, formally as needed, to correct behaviors  Maintains a positive employee relations climate, responding to employee-related issues promptly, fairly and consistently  Prepares and conducts performance reviews for direct reports; assists GM with same for various staff members  Develops and motivates staff, maintains cooperation/teamwork within the department, delegates tasks productively  Responds to internal inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs Human Resources Administration  Establishes and maintains employee personnel files on site and maintains strict confidentiality and access of files  Places job postings for open guest service, retail, technical and administrative positions  Processes new hires, including new hire paperwork, MSS, on-boarding, POS, name tag, business cards, uniform, etc.; coordinates New Hire Orientation  Distributes benefits packets to eligible employees and answers questions about plans; consults with Benefits Representatives in Tempe as needed  Document work-related injuries and completes reports within required deadline; maintain files of worker’s compensation injury reports, customer liability incidents, and OSHA logs  Assists in reviewing and preparing weekly work schedules and approving service schedule changes and requests for time off to ensure adequate coverage  Assists in processing leaves of absence through Benefits Representative in Tempe  Processes employee status changes through MSS or paper; processes terminations in MMS/ POS  Review and prepare payroll information and forward to Payroll Department for processing; researches and assists in the resolution of payroll discrepancies and issues Inventory Works with corporate Supply Chain, Warehouse and Inventory Control departments on resolving inventory issues, investigating losses and ensuring that procedures are being followed. Completes inventory duties accurately and efficiently, including performing cycle counts, maintaining the Stock Control Book, resolving issues, receiving orders, handling over/short/damages, auditing work stations/rooms, recording all stock movement, preparing RTW/RTV according to directives from Supply Chain, supply ordering and handling DIO/sales items and discards.

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  2+ years management experience in a fast-paced spa/salon, beauty or service environment.  College-level or business-related course work.  Highly motivated self-starter, able to work independently with little or no direction.  Proven analytical and decision-making skills, using critical thinking and good judgment.  Team player with strong leadership and supervisory skills, to effectively work with and manage diverse personalities.  Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.  Detail-oriented with strong organizational and administrative skills.  Working knowledge of computers and standard software.  Retail and product knowledge, with experience in developing promotional strategies.  Time management skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities and constant deadlines.  Flexible and available to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends.
