SPA MANAGEMENT AREA OF SPECIALIZATION

DESCRIPTION
The spa industry is growing and more hotels are including spas as an amenity for guests. The Spa Management Area of Specialization is a five-course curriculum that can help prepare students and working professionals to take on management responsibilities in a spa environment.

AUDIENCE
College hospitality management programs and individuals working in spas or hotels.

CONTENT
The Spa Management Area of Specialization consists of the following courses:

REQUIRED:

  • 120 Spa: A Comprehensive Introduction
  • 220 Retail Management for Spas
  • 367 Financial Management for Spas
  • 250 Supervision in the Hospitality Industry

(Note: industry professionals may substitute completion of Supervisory Skill Builders for the Spa Industry and Certified Spa Supervisor designation for this course)

SELECT ONE:

  • 388 Risk Management for Spas (available online only)
  • Any AHLEI course

DETAILS
The Spa Management Area of Specialization certificate is awarded when a student passes the final exams for five of the individual courses required with a score of 70 percent or higher. Certificates are awarded for each course, as well as for the Area of Specialization.
