What is it?
The ISPA Academy was launched this month as a brand new member resource built to provide relevant information and educational resources to help spa professionals grow and make the most well-informed business decisions possible. It is the go-to online library for all things spa including articles, glossary terms, job descriptions, ISPA textbooks, research and so much more. Think Wikipedia but for spa.
Where can I find it?
On the ISPA website of course. Just visit this link to access the ISPA Academy. You can also find it on the menu bar under the Resources tab. Also, once you log in as a member, you will be able to find it on the Member Benefits page as well.
How do I use it?
The Academy was built to be as user-friendly as possible. When you visit the main page, you will see the main eight categories below the search bar and an alphabetical search at the bottom of the page. You may use any one of the three methods to find what you’re looking for.
The categories include human resources, glossary terms, marketing and PR, retail, financial management, spa operations, research and inspiration. Simply click on one to see the items that are classified under each. Maybe you are looking for a job description template for your spa’s new opening. You can find it under the human resources category. Not sure how to define a certain spa term? Use the glossary terms. The categories help narrow down your search, especially if you’re not sure what specifically it is you are looking for.
On the other hand, the search bar comes in handy if you know exactly what it is you are looking for. Simply type the word into the search bar and click the orange search button. This will bring up any listing on the Academy associated with that term. This tends to be the quickest way to find a specific term or topic on the Academy.
Lastly, the alphabetical search allows you to click any letter, and it will take you to the listings that began with that letter in the Academy. This is useful for when you cannot find what you are looking for using the search bar or category methods.
What if I can’t find what I’m looking for?
Let us know! If you think we need to add an item, an article, or there should be more material on a certain topic, leave us a comment at email@example.com. You can also reach us there for any comments, questions or concerns you may have related to ISPA Academy.
Not an ISPA Member?
If you’re not an ISPA member, you can still visit the Academy, though it will be a limited experience. Click here to learn more details about joining the International SPA Association and unlock full access to ISPA Academy!
Special shout out
ISPA extends a heartfelt thank you to all involved with making this project possible. Dr. Mary Wisnom contributed countless hours to helping create and review content for the project. She was instrumental in leading the development of glossary terms and transitioning textbooks into digital form. In addition, more than 50 spa experts, members and volunteers contributed time and expertise to various sections within the Academy and they deserve a huge thank you!
